HIGHEST QUALITY STANDARDS
About Our Laboratories
Visionary Health Compounding Chemist recently relocated to a larger location in 2022 to better serve our customers. Our new premises boast a spacious store and two specialised laboratories to cater to the needs of our clients. Our laboratories are fully equipped with modern, state-of-the-art equipment that complies with the strict guidelines set by the Pharmacy Council of NSW for compounding. By utilising high-grade pharmaceutical ingredients and tested formulas, we strive to maintain the highest quality and safety of your medicines and health supplements.
At our new premises, we have made significant investment so that our customers receive the best possible care. Our purpose-built laboratories are fitted with cutting-edge equipment that allows us to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to delivering personalised care to our customers and we remain committed to providing exceptional services and products to help our customers achieve optimal health.
TWO FULLY ENCLOSED LABORATORIES
Importantly both laboratories are fully enclosed with separate air filtration and temperature control to reduce the risk of contamination and to ensure your medications are made in ideal conditions. We’re currently exploring the possibilities for a sterile laboratory accreditation which would mean we would be able to do compounded injections and eye drops, watch this space!
POWDER CONTAINMENT HOODS
Contamination in laboratories is a serious issue that can affect the safety and efficacy of medications. That’s why our laboratories take every precaution to prevent contamination and ensure that you receive the highest quality medications possible. One of the ways we do this is by using powder containment hoods. These special hoods are designed to reduce the risk of hazardous chemicals (like hormone or veterinary preparations) being released into the laboratory space, which could potentially harm laboratory staff or affect the quality of the medications being prepared.
We also use separate powder containment hoods for each type of medication preparation, such as capsules, creams, and troches. This helps us to avoid cross-contamination, which is when one medication becomes contaminated with particles or substances from another medication. Cross-contamination can lead to inconsistent dosages or even dangerous interactions between different medications. By using separate hoods for each type of preparation, we ensure that each medication is pure and consistent, without any unwanted contaminants.
To further ensure the safety and quality of each medication, our laboratory technicians clean all the associated equipment, including the hoods, after each use. This step is crucial in preventing any remaining particles or chemicals from contaminating the next medication preparation. Our quality measures are important to us because we care about your health and well-being. We want you to have confidence in the medications you receive from us, knowing that they have been prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail.
QUALITY AND SAFETY
At Visionary Health, we take your health and well-being seriously, and that’s why we use specialised compounding software in our laboratories to ensure the quality and safety of your medications. This software is an integral and indispensable part of the compounding process, allowing us to scan, track, and record every detail about every single ingredient used in every single compounded preparation. By using this software, we can ensure that every medication is prepared to the highest possible standards of quality control and safety assurance.
We also have a separate system inside our laboratories, which we call the ‘Quarantine Room’ to ensure the safe storage of raw ingredients and completed medications. This facility assists in temperature, air particle and humidity control.
We believe that you deserve only the best, which is why we only use high-quality pharmaceutical ingredients for your prescriptions from suppliers who are fully accredited with the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). We take pride in our commitment to quality and safety, and we want you to feel confident that you are receiving the best possible medications for your health needs. By using high-quality ingredients, we can help ensure that each medication is effective and consistent, providing you with the best possible health outcomes.
ACCURACY
To ensure that we measure each ingredient accurately, we use electronic scales that are highly sensitive. Our scales are linked to our compounding software, allowing us to check the weight against the compounding formula to ensure that each medication is prepared to the highest possible standards of accuracy and precision.
To maintain the highest possible standards of accuracy and precision, our scales are regularly calibrated by a NATA Accredited market leader in the weighing industry. This helps ensure that our scales are accurate, providing you with the highest quality medications possible.
TRAINING AND HYGIENE
It is essential that the medications we take are as safe and effective as possible. That’s why our pharmacists and laboratory technicians undergo training from highly respected educators in compounding chemistry. In the laboratories where the medications are prepared, our staff wear special protective gear such as laboratory coats, hair nets, gloves, face masks, and safety glasses to ensure that the medications are not contaminated by any outside substances. Additionally, the laboratory technicians take extra precautions by washing their hands and changing their gloves every time they prepare a customised medication. These measures are taken to ensure that the medications we prepare are of the highest quality.
Compounding medications requires precision and care, as each medication is tailored to an individual’s specific needs. By following strict safety protocols, our pharmacists and laboratory technicians can help ensure that the medications they prepare are safe and effective.
EQUIPMENT
Compounding has come a long way from using only a mortar and pestle, and at Visionary Health, we have the latest and most useful equipment available. We believe in using the best technology, alongside traditional methods like mortars and pestles, to ensure we provide the highest quality compounded medications to our customers.
One of the machines we use is the unguator, which mixes creams, ointments, lotions, and suspensions. Using this equipment ensures that our products are smooth and consistent.
In addition to the unguator, we also have the MAZ Mixer, which is designed to mix creams, ointments, lotions, and suspensions while ensuring the end product has improved consistency and is free of air particles. This is critical because other equipment can create up to 20% aeration by volume, which may impact your dosing. For example, if your doctor has recommended 1 mL of medication, you may only be receiving 0.8 mL dosage if you take into account the additional volume caused by the aeration.
Additionally, we also use a milling machine as part of our cream and ointment making process. This machine ensures that the final product feels smoother on your skin, providing you with a better application experience. When you use a compounded medication, it’s important that it feels comfortable and easy to apply.
At Visionary Health, we understand the importance of quality measures when it comes to compounded medications. We strive to provide you with the best possible products by using the latest and most advanced equipment available. We believe that by investing in our staff and equipment, we can provide you with the highest quality compounded medications, which will help you achieve the best possible health outcomes.
